Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms govern your use of parlay.rocks ("Parlay", "we", "us"), a board game companion for planning game nights and looking up rules. By creating an account, joining a game night, or otherwise using Parlay, you agree to them.

1. Who can use Parlay

You must be at least 13 years old. If you use Parlay on behalf of someone else, you confirm you may bind them to these terms. Guests who join a game night from an invite link agree to these terms by joining, whether or not they create an account.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in method (Google, or the email address that receives your magic links) secure. Tell us at legal@parlay.rocks if you think your account has been used without your permission.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload or write: rulebook scans and PDFs, shelf photos, house rules, game night details and votes. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, display and index that content so that Parlay can work: for example to extract rules from a rulebook you upload, to show your house rules in search results, and to show a game night to the guests you invited. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups, which expire on their own schedule.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload. Uploading a rulebook you own for your own reference is what the feature is for. Do not upload material you are not allowed to copy.

4. Rulebooks and copyright

Game names, rulebooks, artwork and box images are the property of their publishers and are used only to identify games and help people play them. Parlay is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any game publisher, or by BoardGameGeek. Where a rulebook has been contributed to the shared catalogue, Parlay shows short excerpts relevant to a question, together with a page reference, rather than reproducing the rulebook.

We respond to copyright complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. See our copyright policy. Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material will be terminated.

5. Rules answers can be wrong

Parlay's rules search retrieves passages from rulebooks and, for some features, uses automated systems including AI to read uploaded documents and photos. Those systems make mistakes: an answer may be incomplete, out of date, from the wrong edition, or simply wrong. The printed rulebook governs. Use Parlay as a quick reference, not as the final word in a dispute at the table.

6. Paid plans

Some features need a paid plan. Prices are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time from your account and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card number. Refunds are handled case by case. Write to legal@parlay.rocks within 14 days of a charge you believe is wrong.

If you cancel or downgrade, nothing you created is deleted. Content beyond the free plan's limits becomes read-only until you upgrade again or remove some of it.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Parlay to break the law, to harass other people, to scrape or bulk-download content, to probe or overload our systems, or to upload malware. Do not attempt to access other users' data. Automated access to the API outside the app is not permitted without our written agreement.

8. Availability and changes

Parlay is provided as is. We try to keep it available and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what a paid plan includes.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account from your profile at any time. This deletes your content within 30 days, except for what we must keep for legal or accounting reasons. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Parlay is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of USD 50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [State], United States, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of [County, State]. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when. For material changes we will notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Parlay after that means you accept the new terms.
